The quickest way to judge a wholesale kurma price is to put real numbers side by side. The figures on this page are a harga semakan Oktober 2026 from one Pemborong Kurma in Malaysia, taken from that wholesaler's live list on 24 October 2026. They will change, so use them as a reference for what a carton cost that month, not as a quote.
Malaysia has no commercial date-growing trade, so every carton on this list is imported. That is why origin appears next to each variety below.

The spread is wide. The cheapest 5kg carton, Mariami A Normal at RM75, costs less than a quarter of the Medjool Super Jumbo carton at RM315. Even inside one variety the gap is large: in the table, Safawi runs from RM16 a kilo for the A No.2 (Mini) to RM39 for the Jumbo.
What makes one carton dearer than another
Different date varieties sit at very different levels, as the table shows. Medjool, which is large and very soft with a rich caramel taste, is the dearest variety in the table. Mariami, a dark, semi-dry, chewy date from Iran, is the cheapest.
Grade is the second lever. Grades such as A, AA, AAA and Jumbo are each importer's own size sorting, not an international standard, so an "AA" from one wholesaler is not automatically the same as an "AA" from another. Within this one list, though, the order is consistent: Mariami goes RM75, RM129, RM148 from A Normal to AA to AAA VIP, and Ajwa goes from RM115 for the A No.1 to RM175 for the VIP AAA.
Timing matters too. Demand for kurma peaks before and during Ramadan, with Hari Raya, weddings, kenduri and umrah gifts as other busy periods. 1kg packs against the nearest 5kg carton
The same list also has smaller packs, which shows what buying by the carton is worth per kilo. The product names are not always identical, so take these as the nearest pairs on the list rather than the same grade in two sizes.
- Ajwa: the 1kg Ajwa A is RM31. The 5kg Ajwa Premium A No.1 (Small) works out at RM23 a kilo.
- Safawi: the 1kg Safawi A is RM35. The 5kg Safawi Premium A No.1 (Small) works out at RM19 a kilo.
- Safawi Jumbo: the 1kg Safawi AAA Jumbo is RM45. The 5kg Safawi Premium Jumbo works out at RM39 a kilo.
- Mariami: the 1kg Mariami AAA is RM40. The 5kg Mariami AAA VIP works out at RM29.60 a kilo.
- Medjool: a single 900g Jumbo box is RM70, or RM77.78 a kilo. The 5kg Premium Jumbo works out at RM56 a kilo.
Buying kurma in bulk only saves money if you use it. Five kilos is a lot of kurma for one household, so the per-kilo saving is easiest to capture when you share a carton or buy for a shop, a kenduri or a surau.
Out of stock on the check date
Some of the lowest per-kilo prices on the list could not be bought. The Mariami A no.2 5kg (RM68), the Ajwa Premium A No.2 (Mini) 5kg (RM95, RM19 a kilo) and the Mariami AA 5kg (No.2) (RM80) were all out of stock. So was every 12 × 600g Rotab carton, Rotab Mazafati and Rotab BAM included, along with all the loose 5kg Deglet Noor packs and the Mabroom Madinah AA 5kg (RM230). Ask before you plan around any of these.
